AML Data Agnostic Compliance Platform | Truth Technologies
Leadership Series: Data Agnosticism

Your compliance platform should work for you, not your data vendor.

Sentinel™ is a fully data-agnostic AML compliance platform. Proprietary data lock-in is the hidden risk inside most AML and sanctions screening programs — Sentinel™ delivers a complete solution, platform and data together, while giving your institution the freedom to bring your own data feeds, add to ours, or use both.

The Sentinel™ Position

"We deliver a complete compliance solution, platform and data. But if you have data relationships of your own, Sentinel™ runs those too."

AMLA Rulebook Consultations Open

AMLA launched consultations on key elements of the EU AML rulebook in July 2026, advancing its timeline toward a single regulatory framework across Member States by 2027. Institutions locked into a proprietary single-source platform face a vendor-dependent timeline for incorporating the new unified requirements. Sentinel™ adds them as a configuration.

Five US Agencies Now Aligned on NPRM

The Federal Reserve's July 7, 2026 NPRM means FinCEN, OCC, FDIC, NCUA, and the Fed are all now proposing the same effectiveness standard. The compliance data landscape is about to change significantly. Data-agnostic platforms can ingest new feed categories without a vendor renegotiation. Proprietary platforms will issue a product roadmap with a timeline.

OFAC Iran Sanctions Waiver Revoked

The US revoked an Iran oil sanctions waiver in July 2026, immediately changing the screening requirement for any institution with Iran-adjacent exposure. Sentinel™ customers received updated OFAC feeds automatically. Customers on proprietary platforms waited for their vendor's next update cycle.

The Problem

What proprietary data lock-in actually costs your compliance program

The risks are not theoretical. They show up in your budget, your audit findings, and your ability to respond when the regulatory landscape shifts overnight.

01
Pricing leverage after you are embedded

Proprietary AML/KYC vendors use competitive introductory pricing to capture your infrastructure. Once your screening workflows, case management, and institutional processes are built around their platform, they hold complete pricing leverage. Introductory contracts that looked reasonable at signing become near-impossible to exit after two or three years of embedded investment. Your staff trained on their system, your audit history living in their environment, and your switching cost growing every quarter. Renewal terms shift. Licensing models change. And you have no credible alternative.

Financial Exposure
02
Waiting on a vendor for regulatory coverage

When OFAC adds a new sanctions program or FinCEN issues updated guidance, your institution cannot afford to wait. With a proprietary AML/KYC platform, your ability to respond depends entirely on your vendor's update cycle and prioritization decisions, not yours. Truth Technologies connects Sentinel™ directly to government and regulatory source feeds, giving your institution early notification of upcoming changes before they are broadly published. Your compliance team sees what is coming, not what already happened.

Regulatory Risk
03
Operational continuity tied to a third party's health

Technology vendors are acquired, pivot product strategy, and deprecate features without warning. If your compliance data infrastructure is built around a single proprietary provider, your entire AML and sanctions program faces an existential disruption when that vendor's corporate strategy changes.

Strategic Vulnerability
04
Examination findings tied to data gaps you cannot fill

A proprietary platform may not cover the specific watchlists, adverse media sources, or typology databases your examiner expects to see. When a critical data source is absent and your vendor does not offer it, your compliance program has a documented gap it cannot close without replacing its entire infrastructure.

Examination Risk
Proprietary Lock-In Risk by Program Impact

"Signing a proprietary data contract is signing a blank check. You just don't know the amount yet."

Pricing flexibility after year 2Minimal
Ability to add new data feeds independentlyLow
Control over your own audit trailPartial
Regulatory responsivenessVendor-Dependent
Coverage of institution-specific risk areasLimited

These constraints are structural, not incidental. They are the product of a business model that monetizes your switching cost rather than your compliance outcomes.

The Sentinel™ Difference

Why data agnosticism is a compliance advantage, not a trade-off

Every proprietary constraint has an agnostic answer. Here is how Sentinel™ converts each lock-in risk into a strategic capability.

Proprietary Sentinel™
Predictable costs instead of blank-check renewals

When your platform is data-agnostic, your data relationships are competitive. You are not locked into a single provider's pricing model. You can source, switch, and negotiate data feeds independently of your screening platform, maintaining cost control across the full lifecycle of your program.

Sentinel™ Capability

Sentinel™ is sold as a complete solution, platform and data included. Customers who have existing data relationships, preferred providers, or institution-specific feeds can bring those in alongside ours. You are never forced to choose between our data and your own.

Proprietary Sentinel™
Integrate any feed your regulators or risk profile require

No single data vendor covers every watchlist, KYC database, adverse media source, or jurisdiction-specific typology database your institution needs. Data agnosticism means your coverage is limited only by what exists in the market, not by what your platform vendor has chosen to license.

Sentinel™ Capability

Sentinel™ is architected to ingest any structured data feed. OFAC. UN. HM Treasury. EU. Government-issued sanctions screening and regulatory lists. Commercial screening databases. Custom feeds. If it is data, Sentinel™ can run it.

Proprietary Sentinel™
Respond to regulatory change on your timeline

When a new OFAC sanctions program is issued, a new typology emerges, or an examiner expects a data source your current vendor does not offer, a data-agnostic platform lets you act immediately. You source the data. We configure the feed. You are compliant. No vendor approval required.

Sentinel™ Capability

Sentinel™ customers have integrated new data feeds in days, not quarters. Your compliance agility is not gated by a vendor's product roadmap.

Proprietary Sentinel™
Operational continuity that does not depend on vendor stability

If your proprietary data provider is acquired, pivots strategy, or sunsets a product line, your compliance program faces a forced migration under pressure. A platform built on open data architecture means your screening capability is never hostage to a single provider's corporate decisions.

Sentinel™ Capability

Because Sentinel™ can run any data feed alongside or instead of our own, a change in any individual data provider is a configuration event, not an infrastructure crisis. Your screening capability is never hostage to a single source.

Integration Architecture

Any data feed. Any source. Any jurisdiction.

Sentinel™ is built to ingest, normalize, and screen against any structured data feed your institution requires, at onboarding or at any point in the future.

"The institution that controls its own data relationships controls its own compliance program. Sentinel™ gives you that control."

Custom Integration
Your Data. Your Requirements.

Proprietary risk lists, internal watchlists, industry consortium data, or any structured feed your institution or regulators require. If it is data, Sentinel™ can run it.

No other platform in the AML and KYC market offers this breadth of integration flexibility. Your compliance program should not be limited by your platform vendor's data agreements.

Proprietary single-source AML/KYC platform vs. Sentinel™ data-agnostic architecture

The difference is not marginal. It compounds across every dimension of your compliance program over time.

Program Dimension Proprietary Single-Source Platform Sentinel™: Data Agnostic
Data feed coverage Limited to vendor's licensed sources. Gaps require expensive add-ons or workarounds. Any structured feed your institution or regulators require. No vendor approval needed.
Pricing control Vendor holds complete pricing leverage post-implementation. Renewal terms shift when you have no viable alternative. Sentinel™ is sold as a complete solution with data included. Customers who have existing data relationships can run those feeds alongside ours. Multi-year engagements are built around your program's growth, not around making exit prohibitively expensive.
Response to regulatory change Dependent on vendor's update cycle. New sanctions programs or watchlists require vendor action. Add or swap any data feed independently. New regulatory coverage is a configuration event, not a vendor request.
Audit trail ownership Audit documentation may be held or formatted by the vendor, limiting your control during examinations. Complete, timestamped audit trail owned and controlled entirely by your institution.
Vendor risk Acquisition, sunset, or strategic pivot by your data vendor creates an infrastructure crisis for your program. Any data provider change is a configuration event. Platform continuity is never dependent on a single data source.
Custom risk coverage Internal watchlists and institution-specific risk lists require vendor integration work at vendor timelines and cost. Proprietary risk lists, internal watchlists, and custom feeds integrate directly into Sentinel™ at your discretion.
Examination readiness Coverage gaps tied to vendor data agreements may surface as exam deficiencies you cannot independently resolve. Full coverage flexibility means no examiner can cite a gap your platform structurally prevents you from closing.
